Wall on Edge Creation
Path: Insert | Walls | Wall on Edge
Use this to ...
- Create sheet metal walls from existing edges. Within the dialog, you can include a bend or clearance between the existing edge and the new wall.
Key Points
- If you create a bend as part of a Wall on Edge, CATIA considers this a child of the node and displays it as that in the Specification Tree. Be careful when doing this. Changing an edge causes CATIA to update all the geometry, which could produce errors.
Prerequisites
- You should be in the Generative Sheetmetal Design workbench.
- You need an existing wall.
Process: Creating Sheet Metal Walls from Existing Wall
1. Select Insert | Walls | Wall on Edge. The Wall On Edge Definition dialog displays.
2. Pick a wall edge. A preview of the wall displays along with the material direction arrow and the Limit 1 and Limit 2 values.
3. In the Dimension area, select the appropriate Reference option. Note that the Height icon is not available for all Reference options.
4. If you set Reference to Height, pick a Height Reference icon to determine the origin of the reference height and enter the length in the Value text box.
5. If necessary, limit the wall by selecting planes for the First and Second Limit.
6. Activate Clearance, if required, and enter a value in the text box.
7. Enter a new wall value in the Angle text box. By default, the wall is perpendicular.
8. If necessary, click Reverse Position to move the wall to the correct side in the Graphics window.
9. If necessary, click Invert Material Side or the arrow to change the direction of the wall creation.
10. Activate With Bend to create a bend at the same time you create the wall. The radius value for the bend comes from the Clearance value you specify.
11. Click OK to create the wall on edge. CATIA adds Wall On Edge.X to the Specification Tree.
