Recognize
Path: Insert | Recognize
Use this to ...
- Create sheet metal parts from existing solid geometry.
- Convert old sheet metal parts for use in the Generative Sheet Metal Design workbench.
Key Points
- Solids must have a constant thickness.
- All radii in the solids need to maintain constant thickness.
Prerequisites
- You must be in the Generative Sheetmetal Design workbench.
- You must have an existing solid model.
Or
You must have a previously created sheet metal part for conversion.
Process: Create Sheet Metal Parts from Existing Solid Geometry
1. Make sure you are in the Generative Sheetmetal Design workbench.
2. Click Sheet Metal Parameters. Define any necessary options in the Sheet Metal Parameters dialog.
3. Select Insert | Recognize. CATIA displays the Recognize Definition dialog. (Notice Full Recognition is pre-selected since walls will be recognized regardless.)
4. Pick the Reference Face which will be used for unfolding. The sheet metal parameters will be based on this face.
5. Activate With Bend Recognition and individually pick faces.
Or
Activate Full Recognition. This option automatically selects With Bend Recognition and propagates the selection to all tangent faces.
6. Click Preview to check the result.
7. Click OK to recognize the part. CATIA displays Recognize.1 in the Specification Tree.
