- Create rolled walls such as closed and open pipes, and pipes with flanges and cutouts.
Key Points
- This function is only available in the Generative Sheetmetal Design workbench.
- Only flange and cutout operations are permitted with rolled walls.
Prerequisites
- You must be in the Generative Sheetmetal Design workbench.
Process: Creating a Rolled Wall
1. Open a sheet metal part.
2. Define the appropriate options in the Sheet Metal Parameters dialog.
3. Create a sketch containing a circular arc or closed circle.
4. Select Insert | Rolled Walls | Rolled Wall. Pick the sketch. The RolledWall Definition dialog displays.
5. The dialog defaults to the First Limit tab. Select the desired Type option and enter a value in the Length 1 text box. Notice the Limit option isn't available when Type is set to Dimension.
6. Click the Second Limit tab and change the Length 2 value.
Or
Pick the Limit2 text in the Graphics window and drag it to the desired length.
7. Change the direction of thickness by either picking the arrow in the Graphics window or clicking Invert Material Side in the RolledWall Definition dialog.
8. In the Unfold Reference area, set End Point to Sketch Location. This option sets the fold line for Fold/Unfold operations.
9. Click Preview to display the rolled wall and the dimensions.
10. You can modify the limits, thickness, and radius of the rolled wall. Click Preview to visualize any changes.
11. Click OK to create the rolled wall, CATIA adds RolledWall.X to the Specification Tree.
12. Click Fold/Unfold. The rolled wall unfolds at the previously defined end point.
