Options
Type
The Extrusion Type options define the length and type of the extrusion.
Dimension
Creates an extrusion at a set length.
If the model updates, the extrusion always remains at the specified dimension value. Enter a value in the text box or click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
Up To Plane
Creates an extrusion to a selected plane. You can pick both reference planes and existing faces. The advantage of this option is that the selected face does not have to enclose the extrusion profile for the extrusion to stop.
By moving the selected plane or selecting a new plane, the extrusion updates to reflect the change.
Up To Surface
Creates an extrusion to a selected surface. The limiting surface must totally enclose the extrusion profile for the extrusion to stop. Again similar to the above options, modifications to the limiting surface reflect in the extrusion.
Limit
Displays the limiting plane or surface used for the extrusion. This is not available for extruding by dimension.
Length 1
Allows you to create an extrusion in the first direction normal to the sketched profile.
Length 2
Allows you to create an extrusion in the opposite direction to the first length. The second length is independent of the first limit and all the same options are available.
Mirrored Extent
Mirrors the extrusion about the sketch plane.
Symmetrical Thickness
Ensures the open sketch profile lies in the middle of the extruded sheet rather than moved to one side. This is useful when trying to extrude certain profiles and maintain the wall thickness.
Invert Material Side
Reverses the initial wall side of the extrusion.
Frequently Asked Questions
A: No, the following message displays when you try to create a closed profile on extrusions.
CATIA does allow a closed circular profile to create a rolled wall effect.
